Organophosphate and carbamate pesticides could inhibit the activity of acetylcholine enzyme existing in the insect central and peripheral nervous system, cause the accumulation of acetylcholine, and effect the normal conduction; so that make insect die from poisoning. The principle of this insect toxicology is used in the detection of pesticide residues. After adding reagent, we can determine the changing value of absorbance with time at 410nm using spectrophotometer, calculate the inhibition rate, and estimate the degree of organophosphate or carbamate pesticide residue in vegetables.
