Get the sharpest and clearest images possible from HD and standard TV and your favorite DVD movies with the 44-inch Zenith Z44SZ80 DLP projection TV, which includes built-in high-definition (ATSC) and 181-channel standard broadcast (NTSC) tuners. With the integrated ATSC tuner, you'll be able to receive off-air high definition broadcasts without the need for an external set-top box. It also features a digital cable tuner (QAM), which allows for the reception of digital cable signals that are not scrambled. Surprisingly thin at 13.3 inches, the Z44SZ80 will help you keep your entertainment center real estate to a minimum.
DLP (which stands for Digital Light Processing) uses an optical semiconductor to recreate source material with a fidelity analog systems can't match. While other technologies lose a certain amount of light in transit, the microscopic mirrors in a DLP projection system bring more light from lamp to screen. It also features better color uniformity over time--no burn-in, screen aging or color-shifting possible. It's the leading display technology for products like small portable conference room projectors and professional venue entertainment systems.
The Z44SZ80 features a widescreen picture aspect ratio (16:9; standard TVs have a 4:3 aspect ratio), which is the ideal screen format for viewing widescreen video from DVD movies and HD telecasts. The 3:2 pulldown cinema video processing feature detects and compensates film--which is shot at 24 frames per second (fps) compared with video's 30 fps rate--to video for a smooth theater-like experience at home. The 3D Y/C digital comb filter analyzes consecutive scanning lines within a field as well as the preceding and following fields. This results in improved detail and color purity, a more stable video image, and nearly eliminating dot crawl and color bleeding.
It has a 1280 x 720-pixel resolution, 450 cd/m2 brightness rating, and an amazing 1500:1 contrast ratio (The higher the contrast ratio, the greater a TV's ability to display subtle color details and not get washed out by ambient room light.) It also has an 8,000-hour lamp life, three modes of color temperature adjustment, seven modes of aspect ratio adjustment, and a screen pitch of 0.098mm. It offers such television features as custom channel labels, favorite channel selection, sleep timer, V-Chip parental controls, and tri-lingual menus (English, French, Spanish).
