KEY POINTS • Sore throats and laryngitis are most commonly caused by viruses and in only 10% of these cases is a bacterial cause implicated (Potgieter B et al. 1993). • Echinacea & Propolis action, apart from having anti-bacterial effects, has also an anti-viral effects unlike antibiotics that are only anti-bacterial. • Altacura Kids Lozenges are in attractive form of bears and have excellent compliance since they are soft and have an excellent taste. • The soothing effect left by propolis in honey base gives a soothing effect to dry coughs. • The propolis content in Altacura soft lozenges is tirated to 12% flavonoids expressed as galangina. • No side effects or contra-indications. • There is no first pass effect and therefore there is no need to use high doses. • Rapid onset of action ___ unlike tablets ___ since it has sublingual action. • Sugar free and recommended for diabetic patients. • Does not have any synthetic chemicals or excipients. ADVISED FOR • Children suffering from common cold (influenza) symptoms such as cough, fever, body aches, sore throat, running nose etc. • Children who have problems in swallowing. • Children who need to boost their immune system since they catch colds several times or when they are going to environments with a high risk of catching a cold. DIRECTIONS FOR USE • 1 soft lozenge every 1 to 2 hours during treatment. • For prevention (i.e. when you feel you are about to catch a cold) take 1 soft lozenge in the morning and 1 soft lozenge at night. • The soft lozenges have to be sucked • To have maximum effect do not swallow. • Suitable for children 12 years and over
