Detailed Description
Automatic Voltage Regulator, special design to matching the complex excite AC generator. The system regulate the generator output voltage in the way of control the excite AC generator’s current. It can afford the generator of 50/60Hz in use of signal or parataxis. CAUTION: IT IS HAZARDOUS TO PROCEED TO ANY HIGH VOLTAGE TEST ON THE ALTERNATOR WITHOUT HAVING PREVIOUSLY DISCONNECTED ALL CONNECTIONS TO VOLTAGE REGULATOR. DAMAGES OCCURING TO AVR IN SUCH CONDITIONS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED IN A WARRANTY CLAIM. 1. General introduction The PC board with electronic components is located inside an alnico box and embedded in epoxy. For connections and adjustments are: - potentiometer (screw) “F/V Droop” - potentiometer (screw) “Quadrature Voltage Droop” - potentiometer (screw) “Voltage” - potentiometer (screw) “Stability” - potentiometer (screw) “Frequency” - potentiometer (screw) “Excitation Ceiling” - contacts S1, S2: C.T. (optional) - contacts A, B: 50 / 60 Hz operation selection - contacts C, D: to remove or to install remote voltage adjusting potentiometer (optional) - contacts 7, 8: normal mode - contacts F1, F2: exciter field current - Switch 1: fast stability Switch 2: rapid respon 2. Regulators - power supply mode: 3-phase power (P1,P2,P3), single-phase power (P1,P3), harmonic power (P2,P4) - shunt supply : 230/400V– 50/60Hz - F/V Droop: -2%~-20% - Rated overload current: 4A (2054A), 6A (2054B), 8A (2054C) - Electronic built-in protection (overload short circuit, loss of sensing): the excitation current rises to ceiling level during 10 seconds, then drops to about 0.5A (Note: The alternator must be stopped (either cut off the supply) to reset this protection.) - Protection of power inputs by fuses FU1, FU2 in the generator. - voltage adjustment by pot “Voltage” - adjustment of C.T. droop with pot “Quadrature Voltage Droop” - under speed protection (U/f) and LAM: threshold frequency adjustable by “Frequency” - adjustment of excitation ceiling current by “Excitation Ceiling”: 2~4/6/8 A - 50/60Hz selection by contacts A, B. - remote voltage adjusting potentiometer (optional) - current sensing ( parallel operation ) C.T. (optional) 3. Load Acceptance Module - LAM (load acceptance Module) function. When applying a load, the rotational speed (frequency) drops down. Below the preset value of frequency the ″LAM″ drops the voltage of about 15% and by this way reduces the effective step of about 25%, as long as the speed has not recovered the rated value. The ″LAM″ enables to reduce the speed and the duration of it for the same load. To prevent voltage oscillations, the frequency threshold must be adjusted about 2 Hz below the lowest frequency in normal steady state operation. 4. F/V Droop regulator According to factors (involve: the generator power, efficiency of turbo, sudden load rate), customers can adjust the pot “F/V Droop” to meet the different requirements. CW to increase the reduce range. 5. Optional items - C.T. (1A , ≥1 VA) for parallel operation (customers provide the rated output current) Note: The C.T. must be 1A ONLY. - remote voltage adjusting potentiometer 500Ω/±5%、1KΩ/±7%、2KΩ/±10%、5KΩ/±15% (values based on 400V). The potentiometer connects to the contacts C, D (remove the contacts 7, 8 before this action).
