Detailed Description
Another way to go is the used market. You can find some nice prices and a lot of machine quality, if you are patient. One of the best all purpose machines in the market for years was the Van Dorn with the Pathfinder control. It was the only controller with a feed-forward loop, in addition to the closed loop control. And they (DPG) are still quite active in the aftermarket business. They came out (recently) with a new controller to retrofit on their solid, albeit not flashy, machines. There are many very large conglomerates that would order Van Dorns by the 10s and 50s in the late 90s and early 2000s.

I've been in the custom injection molding business for 39 years, consequently have worked with and/or around all the popular brands of IMM's. Your specific criteria is: "the best general purpose machine for the buck" and "tonnage range is 100 to 1000 tons". This was the exact criteria I had when I decided to start my own molding business 15 years ago. We chose Nissei and have never regretted it. We have 1 all electric and 10 Hydraulics. One note the Hydraulics are much cleaner because they do not have the toggle clamp movement, which need constant lubrication. Also the Hydraulics are very precise and extremely robust. The next press we will purchase will be the Nissei Hybrid....An incredible machine!

As to the Chinese partners ,yes, most of the American firms have parter firms in China, while as you said ,the partner cost will be increased much especially, because both of them are growing at the same time ,so the American firms will turn to the new parters, that's why they will get so many introduction emails every day. Hope this comments would help all to understanding Chinese factories and try your best to be patience to commuction with them ,then you will found you get exceed your expection.Best wishes .

As to the cost breakdown, in fact ,if all the material and standard are the same, Chinese injection mold manufacturer offer will lower for sure ,because we have about 200 workers in a factory, while in Americam most of the company just about 20 workers , our labour cost is of course lower .As to the shipping cost and custom cost ,in fact , we always note this ,so we have our own Hongkong forward to save the cost, however, good communication is very important in this procedure.

Our company quoted building a tool 2 weeks ago and our price was $32,000 when the China price came in they were only $4,000 less (this was specifying that they use the same quality components as us). By the time you add on shipping you jump another $2,000-$3,000. In addition to the shipping you have time delays in communication, proper communication, hoping they do everything correct, shipping time, etc, etc... The inherent costs are ridiculous. Companies do not consider this, they simply look at mold cost to mold cost. It doesn't make sense and I am glad that some are finally figuring that out.
