Description:Abstract: With the development of the electric vehicle industry, electric vehicle power supply equipment has become the focus of development. Charging cables, as an important part of power supply equipment, have gradually been standardized. Domestic and international standards for charging cables have been formulated and issued one after another. This paper conducts a detailed analysis and comparison of the standards for charging cables that have been issued or are about to be issued, and clarifies the technical differences.
The domestic standard for electric vehicle charging cables is GB/T 20234.2-2015, while the international standard is IEC 62196-2:2016. The two standards have many similarities in terms of structure, electrical performance, safety requirements, etc., but there are also some differences.
First, in terms of structure, both standards use a plug and socket connection with a locking mechanism to ensure a firm connection. However, the international standard IEC 62196-2:2016 specifies 5 different types of plugs and sockets, while the domestic standard GB/T 20234.2-2015 only has two.
Secondly, in terms of electrical performance, both standards specify parameters such as maximum current and maximum voltage. However, the international standard IEC 62196-2:2016 stipulates that charging cables need to support a variety of different power types and current levels, while the domestic standard GB/T 20234.2-2015 only stipulates two situations: single-phase AC power supply and DC power supply.
Finally, in terms of safety requirements, both standards stipulate that charging cables need to have characteristics such as waterproof, dustproof, and fireproof, as well as be able to prevent safety issues such as electric shock. However, the international standard IEC 62196-2:2016 stipulates more stringent safety requirements, such as the need to support emergency power-off functions, and the ability to automatically stop charging in abnormal situations such as incorrect connection or excessive current.
In general, the domestic standard GB/T 20234.2-2015 and the international standard IEC 62196-2:2016 have strict regulations on electric vehicle charging cables, and each has its own characteristics. In actual application, it is necessary to select the appropriate standard according to the actual situation and carry out corresponding design and production.
