Detailed Description
Bismuth germanate(Bi4Ge3O12) commonly abbreviated as BGO, is the crystalline form of an inorganic oxide with cubic eulytine structure, colorless, transparent and insoluble in water. When exposed to irradiation of high energy particles, it emits a green fluorescent light with a peak wavelength at 480nm
Though lacked of better energy resolution compared with some other inorganic scintillators, its excellent physical properties, such as high density and Z value, excellent stopping power, outstanding photo-fraction and none-hygroscopic property, make BGO to be an ideal scintillation material in the application of high energy physics, nuclear physics, space physics, nuclear medicine, geological exploration and many other relevant industries.
