Dongguan Bio Lighting Environment Technology Co., Ltd. (BIOLE) is established with investment spearheaded by Dongguan Institute of Opto-Electronics, Peking University(PKU-IOE). It specializes in biolighting with business area ranging from basic science research and product development to customer service and overall solutions. Founded in 2013, it is located in the state-level Songshan Lake (SSL) High-Tech Industrial Park in Dongguan, Guangdong.
Professor Gan Zizhao, renowned physicist and academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), serves as the founder and policy maker of the company. BIOLE bases its core technologies on researches at the Research Center for Wide Gap Semiconductor of PKU and the Bio Lighting Environment Research Center of PKU-IOE, providing dedicated solutions for bio light-source customization. The company features a research and development facility with a 1000 sq. m product lab in SSL High-Tech Park, and a 17000 sq. m manufacturing facility in the Science and Technology Park at the booming ecological and industrial town of Qishi.
Since BIOLE’s inception, research has always been the driving force. Major results by the research team include: R&D and production of plants lighting supplement lamps and plants growth lamp; improvement in animal lighting equipment such as growth lamps for fowl and cattle as well as production boosting light sources in aquaculture; R&D in human centric lightings with product lines in lighting for therapeutic treatment, for medical cosmetology, and for health care; and in the applications of photocatalysis and UV sterilization, development of product lines for air purification, water purification and chemical residue decomposition. In the next stage, BIOLE is planning to combine the information technology of IOT (Internet of Thigns) with demands for artificial lighting environment to develop smart control systems of lighting environment to meet different needs for humans and for animals, thus provide lighting solutions to adjust biorhythms.
At the same time BIOLE has built up partnerships and cooperations with many research institutes, including Jilin Academy of Agricultural Sciences, *** Test Base for National Biology Center***, Institute of Botany (Beijing) of the CAS, Chengdu Institute of Biology of the CAS, South China Botanical Garden of the CAS, School of Life Sciences of Shandong University, and School of Life Sciences of Sun Yat-Sen University. In June 2013, the tobacco nursey lighting solution experiment jointly carried out by BIOLE and ***the Test Base for National Biology Center*** was declared a success. BIOLE undertook the project to develop the plants lighting environment system in spacecrafts for Chinese Space City, and successfully delivered in July 2013. In August 2013 the company took on research for the lighting environment light source of Lunar Palace 1 and the corresponding power source solution, and became the designated provider for the plants lighting system of Beihang University’s Lunar Palace 1.
