Detailed Description
Single-sided embroidery, a branch of stitch work, is traditional handicraft in China, which has a long history. In 8th century BC, people took embroidered dresses as etiquette trappings. In 3rd century BC, the skills of embroidery reached a practiced stage. Besides single-sided embroidery, there are also double-sided embroidery (reversible embroidery) and daily necessaries. Different from reversible embroidery, the single-sided one seeks for the neatness and perfection of one side. With the development of the embroidery, craft workers gradually adopted painting, poems, calligraphy, inscriptions and all other kinds of art in the embroidering procedure. This introduced Chinese paintings into the patterns of embroidery, and takes more than 70 stitches and hundreds of colors.
