Refractometer for brine and sugar solution This optical refractometer (salinity meter) has scales in the range of 0 - 28 %. The reading resolution is 0.2 %. It is designed for the measurement of salt solutions and brines. The second scale in the range of 0 - 32 °Bx (% of the sugar content in an aqueous solution - Mas Sacch). The reading resolution is 0.2 %. Scale / characteristic Scale Range Resolution Salinity 0 to 28 % 0.2 % Glucose / sugar 0 to 32 °Bx 0.2 °Bx The usual salinity of the selected aqueous solutions Example: Salinity 36 ppt means, that there are 36 grams of salt in1 liter aqueous solution. Fresh water < 0.5 ppt Brackish water 0.5 to 30 ppt Saline water (Seawater) 30 to 50 ppt Brine > 50 ppt The usual sucrose concentration of selected substances Example: 100 grams of 25 °Bx aqueous solution contains 25 grams of sugar. In other words, there is 25 grams of sugar and 75 grams of water in 100 grams of sugar solution.
