Detailed Description
Knitted wire fabric is a wire fabric made by a circular knitted process which produces a sleeve of continuous stocking of inter-linked wire loops. Knitted wire mesh fabric is normally knitted form round or flat wires ranging in various diameters. It is used in cleaning and air-filtration applications where large surface areas of wire fabrics are needed. The wire diameter of knitted wire fabric affects flow, dirt holding capacity and pressure drop. In general, knitted mesh with larger wire diameter allows for higher flow but provides lower dirt holding capacity; also larger diameter wire is less expensive. Therefore, a balance must be struck between using a higher density filter for higher cost fine wire or lesser density filter using lower cost heavy wire. Density Density refers to the mass of material per unit volume. Determining the required density is a critical step in the design process. Proper density ensures optimal performance of the knitted wire mesh sealing, gasket, filtration and separation applications. Knitted wire mesh fabric can be processed into compressed or pad forms to allow liquid or gas flowing through. The special knitting increases filtration capability and particle retention capacity of the wire mesh fabrics. When compressed, layered, calendared or wound knitted metal presents a tortuous path to liquids or gases flowing through it, this increases filtration capability and particle retention capacity. Knitted wire fabric materials: stainless steel wire, copper wire, nickel wire, galvanized iron wire, phosphor bronze wire and polyamide fiber. Manufacturing method: Machine knitting. Manufactured form: Sock/tube (can be slit into a single layer). Material structure: Inter-locking loops with variable free-space dimensions. Material deformation: Stretchable in multiple axis.
