Emodin Anthraquinones represent a large family of compounds having diverse biological properties. Emodin (1,3,8-trihydroxy-6-methylanthraquinone) is a naturally occurring anthraquinone present in the roots and barks of numerous plants, molds, and lichens, and an active ingredient of various Chinese herbs.
Main Functions
1. Anti-tumor. The Emodin has effective restrain to cell proliferation of hepatoma, lung tumor, bladder tumor and so on.
2. Protecting the Liver. Emodin protect the liver damage caused by carbon tetrachloride, and has a effective restrain to the Hepatitis B.
3. Anti-renal fibrosis. Emodin can restrain the division and proliferation of the HRIF. It can also result in the cell death by improving the level of C-MYC protein.
4. Antibiotic Action. Emodin has the inhibitory action of Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus aureus(S. aureus) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
