Technologies for tomorrow
As once said, "The surest way to predict the future is to create and shape it yourself."
For Tovay, shaping the future is about developing technologies with a high-growth potential, recognizing technological breakthroughs, identifying customer needs, and creating new business opportunities, products and solutions.
Knowledge transfer through R&D
Obtaining a strong competitive position at the global level means constantly making clear our aim is being ahead of the curve – in everything from research and development, to purchasing, manufacturing, sales, and service. This requires that we concentrate our research and development activities in those regions where technological expertise is high, and that we foster local research initiatives. Tovay has almost 500 people working in R&D in 3 different countries. This is how we bring our technology know-how to other countries and build local competency.
Planning for the future
Working in tandem with our operating units, Corporate Technology has developed different methods for preparing for and modeling the future. They are based on two opposing yet complementary perspectives: The one is obtained using extrapolations into the future based on the world of today; the other is obtained through retropolation back to the present, starting from the world of tomorrow.
Extrapolation involves looking at today's known technologies and projecting them into the future. Retropolation involves envisioning possible scenarios in the future and drawing consequences from them for today.
