Inconel718 high-temperature alloy
Features and applications overview:
This alloy has good comprehensive performance at the temperature range of 253 to 700°C. Its yield strength below 650°C is the largest among high-temperature alloys. Apart from good processing properties and weldability, it has good performance in anti-fatigue, anti-oxidation, anti radiation and corrosion resistance. This alloy can be used to made a variety of complex-shaped parts. It has been used widely in the aerospace, nuclear energy, oil industry and the extrusion die.

The metallurgical structure of Inconel718:
The structure of the alloy in the state of standard heat-treatment consists of γ matrixγ'、γ"、δ、NbC phase.
The process performance and requirements of Inconel718:
Due to a higher content of niobium in the Inconel alloy 718, the niobium segregation of the alloy is directly related to the metallurgical processes.
In order to avoid segregation in the ingot is too much, the ingot diameter is not larger than 508mm.
After the homogenization treatment, the alloy has good hot workability. The steel ingot blooming heating temperature does not exceed 1120°C.
The average size of the grain size of the alloy is closely related to the forging deformation degree and the final forging temperature.
The alloy is with satisfactory weldability. Available methods are argon arc welding, electrode beam welding, seam welding, spot welding, and so on.
Different processes of solid solution treatment and aging treatment will produce alloys with different material properties.
Because of the lower diffusion rate of γ" phase, a long time of aging treatment will enable Inconel alloy718 to obtain the best mechanical properties.
