The films have an acrylic resin prismatic layer coated on a very transparent polyester
substrate PET. The prisms can convert large angle light to usable light towards the viewer,
in that way they increase the on-axis brightness of LCD displays. The most common prism
pitch is 50um. The prism angle is usually fixed at 90 degrees.
