Shanghai Genon Bioengineering Co., Ltd., lcated in Zhang-jiang National Bio-medicine Industry Park of Pu-dong New District, was founded in 1999 under the name of its predecessor Shanghai Sinoroad Bio-engineering Company. Now it is one of the first certificated technology development enterprises in Pu-dong New District, and also one of the "Hi-tech enterprises", "Hi-tech achievement transformation one hundred good enterprises" in Shanghai, "national Postdoctoral Research Station" and "36 Life Science & Technology Training Bases". Approved by Shanghai Science & Technology Committee and based on the company, Shanghai Transgenic Research Center (League juridical person) was founded, . Thus, Genon has become a model enterprise, which consists of production, academy, research and development.
Genon has been advocating the running idea of "Science & technology create healthy future". Based on the established hi-tech platforms of gene transfer, somatic cell cloning, humanized antibodies, and rapid breeding of economic animals, Genon is undertaking stockbreeding, medical and pharmaceutical industries. Up to now, several science & technology achievements have been certificated by the administrative authorities, and many patents (including international patents) obtained
Now Genon is carrying on several research & development projects, including a national "863" project, a national scientific achievement transformation project, and a Shanghai momentous basic research project. Meanwhile, development and achievement transformation projects are marching further. Among which several achievements have been demonstrated, and turned into multiple series products in the fields of stockbreeding, medical and pharmaceutical industries. The sale of some products has not only covered many provinces in China mainland but also entered into the markets of Southeast Asia. Based on the transformation projects, a group of enterprises has been formed, and several holding companies and daughter companies developed.
Genon has been pursuing the management idea of "based on people, fitting for both people and things", constructing a strong talented team. President of Genon, Dr. Cheng Guo-xiang, is one of the preeminent head of disciplines, one of the science & technology trailblazers in Shanghai, and of the ten excellent youths in Pu-dong New District. He is a pluralistic professor of Shanghai Second Medical University and Shanghai Institute for Biological Sciences, and a special editor of Chinese Science Bulletin as well. As a core of the team, Dr. Cheng have absorbed 240 talented people into his team including PhD, Masters degree owners, and specialists from America, . Sixty percent of the research and managing staff members are graduated from universities. Fitting for both people and things, Genon has created a harmonized working environment for staff members: 3, 000 m2 laboratories with modern equipment for molecular biology and protein engineering, ten-thousand level of air clean system for embryonic engineering laboratory and laboratory animal facility, and 5600 m2 apartments.
Looking ahead to the future, Genon will base itself upon stockbreeding, medical service and pharmaceutical industries to form brands of Genon stockbreeding, Genon medicine, and Genon pharmacy 3 industry groups. With its powerful strength, Genon will intervene in financial industry, and is sure to realize a dream of hammering at "one hundred year's Genon".
