Advantage It can be 100% biodegradable, derived from biomass renewable resources, and it has good biocompatibility and biodegradable nature which has no harm to human body. Common plastic material can not match those advantages, so PLA is the ideal substitute material of common plastic material. PLA is derived from agricultural resources, inexhaustible, low energy consumption during the production process. Using one ton of PLA can reduce 2.2 tons of carbon emissions than using the same oil-based plastics. PLA is the ideal replacement of traditional petroleum-based plastics, and compared to the traditional petroleum-based plastic, it has the main features: It is derived from biological base with low carbon effect: Its raw material is from biological and renewable agricultural resources and it lower petrochemical resource consumption. According to ISO13432 standard measurement, comparing to use one ton of each petroleum-based plastic, PLA can reduce 2.2 tons of co2 emissions. It is complete biodegradation which can alleviate the white pollution problem: PLA can be 100% biodegradable, so it can partly replace traditional plastic to alleviate white pollution, to bring environmental effects and social benefits. It has high biological compatibility which is nontoxic and is harmless to human body. American certificate agency FDA pointed that PLA is the only biodegradable plastics that can be implanted in the human’s body. Because it has excellent biocompatibility, its product is especially suitable for food packing, medical material and other related field which is equal to human’s health. PLA has superior physical performance: It has the highest melting point in all biodegradable polymers. PLA has high degree of crystallization and good transparency. Different molecular weight of PLA can be applied to various kinds of different processing technology, such as blow molding, thermoplastic, drawing and so on. Its product has a wide applicable scope.
