SF6 insulated test transformers are designed for testing metal-clad switchgear (GIS) and substation equipment. The conventional transformer can be flanged directly to the GIS. This makes testing of such installations possible without feeding them trough an air-SF6 bushing. Therefore the merits of the encapsulation remains effective also during the test which is essential for PD tests.
