The aluminum T1 is quickly changing perceptions of what a world class track frame should be. While over 500 grams lighter than most well-known carbon track frames, its torsional and BB stiffness are matched by no other. "I expected it to be stiff, but this took stiffness to a new meaning and I could feel the aerodynamic difference to other bikes I have ridden”, according to Magnus Backstedt, a 12 year veteran of the ProTour. The T1 is part of the T-series, offering track models for sprint and endurance events Characteristics: Aerodynamic design to reduce resistance and increase speed. TT design experience spilling over to track, pairing track-level stiffness with very low weights. T1-geometry for sprint events and T3 geometry for endurance events (though it has won big sprint events too!) TECHNOLOGY TrueAero Shapes - Long-tail airfoils with a 3:1 ratio or better create the lowest drag - Truncation can be useful, for example if flow interacts with another object. Aero Headtube - The narrow section between the bearings reduces the frontal area and thereby the aero drag (which is linearly related to the frontal area) - Narrowing this area also improves the headtube's aspect ratio (same gusset length divided by a smaller width renders a higher ratio) to get closer to a 3:1 airfoil. Ultra Thin Seatstays - Cervelo's alloy frames have always had the thinnest possible seatstays to increase vertical compliance, improve comfort and reduce weight. - Their minimal cross section also creates a small frontal area for reduced drag. - Strong, light, comfortable and more aero, an unbeatable combination. Smartwall - Smartwall in alloy frames puts more material to the sides of the tubes and removes it from top and bottom. - This puts material the farthest from the neutral axis to best combat side-to-side flex - It also increases vertical compliance as less material is far from the horizontal neutral axis.
