Internal Upset Drill Pipe Drill pipe is a kind of pipe with thread at end. The usage of drill pipe is to deliver the drilling mud to drill head and can be used many times during oil and gas exploiting and refining. The length of drill pipe is about 9 m. ID change of drill pipe upsetting transition zone causes the stress concentration at the upsetting transition zone disappearance, is the main reason of drill pipe failure. Our company improved pipe end upsetting structure, reduced forging deformation, extended the length of upset inner conical surface, improved the transmission quality, the length of transmission zone is longer than 120mm. Through the process, upsetting pipe end three times, reduction and upsetting press decreased stepwise. After improving the service life of drill pipe and inner transmission zone quality, reduced the stress concentration during drill pipe body use, washing out failure probability at inner transmission zone, enhanced the service life the drill pipe.
