Detailed Description
I. Chemical name 2-(2'-Hydroxy-5'-methylphenyl)-benzotriazole II. Introduction UV-P is a benzotriazole type UV absorber. Characterized by its strong, broad range UV absorption property, UV-P brings an excellent photostability to polymers against UV light exposure in many ways I. E. Retarding color yellowing, preventing embrittlement, maintaining of mechanical properties etc. UV-P is particularly effective in styrenic polymers, PVC, unsaturated polyesters polyurethanes, acrylic polymers and polycarbonates. III. Physical properties 1. Molecular Weight: 225 2. Appearance: White to yellowish crystal powder 3. Melting Point: 128-130 celcius degree 4. Content: ≥ 99%(HPLC) 5. Transmittance: 440nm≥ 97% 500nm≥ 98% IV. Advantage 1\Odorless, doe not bring smells to the polymers 2\Insensitive to metal ion 3\Non-flammable, non-esplosive, non-toxic, harmless to health. 4\Very high photo stability for its strong ability to absorb Light especially in UV region (270-340nm) 5\Very stable to heat, and can be used in plastic, which Require high processing temperature. 6\Hardly absorbing visible light, especially suitable for the Colorless and the light-colored products. V. Applications(based on polymer weight) 1. Styrenic polymers: 0.2-0.5wt% for PS. 0.3-0.5wt% for ABS 0.5-2.0wt% for HIPS 2. Polyvinyl chloride: 0.2-0.5wt% for PVC 3. Polyurethane: 0.3-1.0wt% for PS 4. Polyacrylate: 0.15-0.3wt% for PS 5. Polycarbonate: 0.15-0.3wt% for PS 6. Unsturated Polyester: 0.2-0.4wt% for PS VI. Toxicity & Safety UV-P can be safely handled without irritation caused to the skin.
