Detailed Description
EDV high performance tray is recommended to be applied in the tray columns. it will bring solutions to you with higher capacity, higher separation efficiency, lower pressure drop and better flexibility as well as lower capital costs.
Since its inception in late 1997, EDV high performance trays have been successfully applied in more than 1000 commercial installations in the refining, petrochemical and chemical industries with a widely application ranging from 0.8 to 10.2 meter in tower diameters, 300 to 1100 mm in tray spacing, towers with a few to more than 200 trays, one to four passes (including three-pass), and in vacuum to high pressure systems.
The EDV High Performance Tray technology consists of various design know-how and patented features that help, not only improve column throughput and efficiency, but also extend the column run-time.
Features as a patent:
- Directional Flow Promotion Devices
EDV valves and its directional flow promotion devices help eliminate stagnant liquid pool, promote uniform liquid plug flow and froth densities across the entire bubbling area. As a result, the directional promotion devices eliminate the fouling material settling on the tray deck and extend the column run time.
- "Quick-Connect" Active Tray Joints
Traditionally, tray panels are connected by bolting constructions which will results in a approx. 100-mm wide of inactive areas on the panel. Such typical 100-mm wide inactive areas on the tray deck will not only cause the liquid to by-pass (ie, no contact with the vapor), but also offer opportunity for the fouling material to settle (due to no vapor/liquid contact action).
- Inlet Bubble Promoters
The EDV Pinnacle Performance Tray is designed with unique inlet bubble promoters to allow for froth initiation near the inlet area of the active panels. The froth initiation helps minimize/eliminate the liquid gradient on the tray and promotes uniform froth distribution across the entire tray active area and results in higher tray capacity and operating flexibility.
In summary, EDV high Performance Trays consist of combinations of various features outlined above as well as other design know-how that is crucial in achieving high performance (ie, capacity, efficiency, pressure drop, turndown and run-time). When compared with typical valve / sieve trays, EDV high Performance Trays offer:
- higher capacity - typically 20-40%,
- higher tray efficiency - typically 5-15%
- lower pressure drops - typically 15-20%
- higher turn down flexibility, and
- longer column run-time.
