1)Molecular weight: 190.10
2)Properties: White or yellow crystalline powder or crystal with strong SO2 smell, specific gravity: 1.4, soluble in water, aqueous solution appears acid. It can release SO2 when met with strong acids. It will be oxidized into Na2SO4 when in the air.
3)Sodium metabisulfite food grade is mainly used as bleaching agent of food. 4)According to the standard of GB2760-1996, the max dosage is 0.45g/kg for confection, cracker, dextrose, sugar, rock candy, cerealose, candy, liquid dextrose, bamboo shoot, mushroom & canned mushroom. The max residue(counted on SO2): 0.05g/kg for confection, bamboo shoot, mushroom & canned mushroom; 0.1g/kg for cracker and sugar; 0.2g/kg for liquid dextrose. According to GB1893-1998, Sodium metabisulfite tech grade is widely used in leather tanning, cloth knitting, organic matters blanching, mordants, synthetic organic reducers for photography, rubber coagulators and spices.
5)Storage: Sealed, kept in cool and dry place, avoid air, moisture and heat. Do not contact with oxidant, acid and toxic matter.
