Detailed Description
CARBOXYMETHYL CELLULOSE (CMC) is a kind of water soluble polymer which is modified cellulose and belongs to ionic electrolyte type of high molecular compound. It has the widest rang of use and biggest output among cellulose ethers. Compared with common natural and synthetic gels, it possesses more advantages. It can be used as adhesive, thickener, stabilizer, emulsifier, suspending agent, dispersant, film former, lustering agent, water retention agent and protective colloid. It is widely used in food, toothpaste, pharmaceutical, daily chemical, textile, printing and dying, building, paper, ceramic, oil drilling, electric welding rod, coating, feedstuff, paste and synthetic detergent.
CMC is white or yellowish fibrous, odourless and tasteless, innoxious powder. It is uninflammable and does not mildew. It does not dissolve in ethanol, acetone, chloroform and other organic solvents, but it dissolves in water easily and form viscous and stable colloid solution. It also has a good compatibleness with other water soluble gels or resins.
