“Sanjing” Aluminum Tripolyphosphate series, new non-toxic white anticorrosive pigments for paints, are produced by Guangxi Research Inst. of Chemical Ind. The institution began the research of Aluminum Tripolyphosphate in 1982; pilot-scale production began in 1986, and the product entered the market in the same year. Guangxi Research Inst. of Chemical Ind. was the first institution in China that has successfully developed and produced this product on the industrial scale. The product series are classified as the national industrialization project, and have obtained national funds. The quality of the products has achieved the same standards which are used by developed countries. The qualities of products were tested by Changzhou Paint Res. Inst. of National Department of Chemical Industry, and Wuhan Paint Res. Inst. etc. According to the standards of Volkswagen, Germany, the test results showed that the performance of anticorrosion was better than those toxic anticorrosive pigments such as lead red or zinc yellow. “Sanjing” Aluminum Tripolyphosphate series have been widely used in many kinds of primers, or mingle paint of primer and top-coat; and can also be used as solid acid catalyst, curing agent for water glass, and deodorizing agent etc.

Main composition: Aluminum Tripolyphosphate(AlH2P3O10•2H2O)
Main anticorrosive group: P3O105-
Properties: nonvolatile white powder with very fine crystal, insoluble in water, density 2.6-3g/cm3, nontoxic, nonirritant on skin, thermal stable.
Uses: Widely used in many kinds of primers, or mingle paint of primer and top-coat. Employed in both oil soluble resins such as phenol resin, alkyd resin, epoxy or epoxy polyester resin, and acrylic resin; and water-soluble air drying or baking resin to produce paints with high anticorrosive performance, and acid, water and fire resistance.
Types and Uses:
1. ATP: used in fire, heat, and acid resistant paints according to costumers’ need. Also used as solid acid catalyst or hardener for alkali silicate, etc.
2. Modified Aluminum tripolyphosphate series:
APW-1 and APW-2: Completely zinc oxide modified products, can be used directly in manufacturing paint. Normally, APW-1 is used in oil paint, and APW-2 is used in water-soluble paints.
APZ-99: Partially zinc oxide modified product, can be used both in oil and water-soluble paints, but technical requirements for the usage are higher.
APW-211: Completely calcium silicate modified product, generally used in oil-based paint in a low-corrosive environment.
