Detailed Description
Pure tungsten rotating targets
Advantages of pure W: high melting temperature, low vapor pressure, sufficient electrical resistance, and low thermal expansion combined with good thermal conductivity, high modulus of elasticity. Tungsten is an excellent material for high-temperature applications.
Molybdenum (Mo)
Advantages of pure Mo: high melting temperature, low vapor pressure, sufficient electrical resistance, better thermal conductivity, low thermal expansion, high modulus of elasticity. Molybdenum has good heat resistance up to 1900℃.
W-Re/Mo targets
Advantages of W-Re over pure W: Lower ductile-to-brittle transition temperature, higher re-crystallization temperature, better weld ability, higher thermal stability, higher creep strength up to 1800℃.
W-Re/TZM targets
Advantages of TZM over pure Mo: better creep resistance, higher re-crystallization temperature, higher heat resistance, better welding properties.
W-Re/TZM targets
Advantages of TZM over pure Mo: better creep resistance, higher re-crystallization temperature, higher heat resistance, better welding properties.
W/Graphite, W-Re/Graphite targets
Advantages of graphite over pure and TZM: higher specific heat, better thermal conductivity, excellent resistance to thermal stress, be suitable for X-ray target in CT.
