Fuding White Tea
White tea is one of six leading kinds of teas (green tea, black tea, Oolong tea, yellow tea etc.) and belongs to slightly fermented tea. It got its name for its white bud leaves looking like silver in color.
White Tea is characterized by its delicate and bright leaves, obvious silvery bud-leaf, fresh fragrance, mellow taste and bright-clear liquor. White tea is refined with special and natural technology, preserving its rich original contents such as active enzymes , polyphenols matter and so on, having functions of pharmacology and health care. Therefore white tea belongs to a most primitive, natural, and healthiest tea.
With the cool nature, white tea has functions like those of rhinoceros horns. It is known at all times and in all over the world that tea has an effect --- health care. Now the new scientific research indicates that of various kinds of teas, white tea has a most comprehensive effect on health care, specially in depressing high blood pressure, blood fats and blood sugar as well as anti-radiation, anti-oxidation, anti-cancer.
White tea has been known to people since ancient time. In the book "Min Xiao Ji"(a book about some records in Fujian ) it is written that with its cool nature, white tea has functions like those of rhinoceros horns. According to a textual research, this judgment comes from "Compendium of Materia Medica", a famous ancient book on Chinese herbal medicine. Since ancient times in the east of Fujian where grow white tea, it has come down that white tea brings down a fever, treats a toothache , get rid of the measles and so on.
Another thorough research into the white tea's effect on health care comes from Europe and America. In Science Daily published in May 28, 2004 in the US, there is an article titled White Tea Has a Better Sterilization Effect than Green Tea", which quotes the latest finding by Dr. Milton from New York Pais University. It Points out that some extracts from white tea have functions in preventing staphylococcus infection, streptococcus infection, pneumonia, etc. In the Chinese magazine Tea Information, the 8th issue of 2003, there is a report quoted and translated from an American authorized scientific magazine National Science Academy Journal. In the report, an American scientist from Medical College of Harvard University discovers that drinking White Tea makes the interferon secretion of immune cells in blood increase by 5 times. In 2005, at the academic conference of American Chemical Society held in San Francisco, an American biochemist claimed his conclusion about his research into the anti-cancer function of white tea --- white tea has more anti-cancer potentials than others. Another research, made by the Cancer Research Center of Oregon State University which is aided by the American Cancer Research Foundation, also indicates that the anti-cancer substance in white tea can unceasingly suppress and reduce the liver tumour as well as enhance the immune function. In the Chinese magazine Tea Information, the 18th issue of 2005, there is another report quoted from a British authoritative magazine "Best Nutriology", which recommended that drinking white tea benefit our health.
Nearly all researches show that the good processing of white tea, to a great extent , guarantees and preserves the nutrition for our body in the tea. In Europe and America, white tea has been received well by many consumers and the extracts from it has been used more and more in many fields such as medicine, cosmetic, foodstuff and so on. Ms Luo Shaojun, a Chinese tea expert, president of Hangzhou Tea Research Institute and director of China National Tea Quality Supervising & Testing Center, recommends repeatedly that production of white tea should be further developed, saying that, "Besides the researches in the USA, the research made by Stockholm Medical Research Center in Sweden also indicates that white tea has a very strong function of sterilization and elimination of free radicals. 30 years ago I recommended white tea, and today I am trying my best to do so ".
