Noise Barrier is an outdoor acoustic barrier system used along highways, railways, bridges, factories, power plants, and construction site perimeters. The common structure is a metal acoustic panel fixed between H-beam posts. The noise source side is usually perforated for sound absorption, and the back side is closed with solid sheet for sound insulation. The panel can be filled with hydrophobic rock wool or hydrophobic centrifugal glass wool, depending on project requirements. Transparent PC panels can be added where daylight or visibility is needed. Panel size, barrier height, wind load, corrosion class, fire rating, and acoustic target should be confirmed from project drawings before production.
Panel Material: Galvanized steel sheet or aluminum alloy sheet for metal acoustic panels. Outdoor transparent sections usually use UV-coated polycarbonate solid sheet.
Common Panel Thickness: 80mm, 100mm, and 120mm overall panel thickness. This refers to the finished panel body, not only the acoustic filling layer.
Standard Module Height: 500mm, 800mm, or 1000mm per panel. Common project heights include 2m, 3m, 4m, and higher designs according to site drawings.
Panel Length: 1960mm or 2000mm is commonly used to match H-beam post spacing. Custom length is available after confirming post center distance.
Perforated Side: The side facing the noise source is perforated. Common perforation rate is about 20%-30%, depending on panel design.
Back Side: Closed solid sheet for sound insulation. This side normally faces the protected area.
Absorbing Core: Hydrophobic rock wool or hydrophobic centrifugal glass wool. Ordinary indoor glass wool is not recommended for outdoor road and railway projects.
Acoustic Performance: Common project targets include Rw 25dB, Rw 30dB, and Rw 35dB. Final value depends on panel structure, barrier height, sealing, post spacing, and test method.
Reference Standards: Acoustic performance can be designed or tested according to project requirements such as EN 1793, EN 1794, or local road and railway specifications.
Post Type: H-beam post is the common choice for continuous roadside and railway noise barriers. U-post or I-post may be used in selected designs.
Surface Treatment: Hot-dip galvanized steel plus outdoor powder coating is the common finish for road and municipal projects.
Corrosion Option: Inland projects usually use standard hot-dip galvanizing and powder coating. Coastal or high-humidity projects should specify higher zinc coating and thicker outdoor powder coating.
Transparent Panel: UV-coated PC solid sheet, commonly 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, or 15mm thick. Transparent panels mainly provide sound insulation and visibility, not sound absorption.
Fire Performance: Metal panels with mineral wool filling can meet non-combustible or fire-rated project requirements when tested as specified. The final rating should follow the required standard.
Accessories: H-beam posts, rubber sealing strips, bolts, pressure plates, end caps, base plates, and drainage details can be supplied according to drawings.
