According to the IEC 62196-2 standard, electric vehicle charging is divided into four charging modes. The main difference between the four charging modes is the charging infrastructure connected by cables. In different charging modes, the selection of the wire diameter of the electric vehicle charging wire is generally based on the size of the current.

Charging mode 1: Combination single-head charging gun + cable + ordinary CEE plug is connected to a single-phase power supply. This mode lacks safety protection and has basically been eliminated by the market.

Charging mode 2: The combination method is single-head charging gun + cable + ICCB control box + plug connected to single-phase or three-phase power, this mode adds a controller, which can provide overvoltage, undervoltage, overcurrent, overtemperature, leakage, Power failure protection.The output current is 16A or 32A.It is recommended to use OMG 3*2.5+2*0.75 charging cable under 16A rated current, and OMG 3*4.0+2*0.75 charging cable is recommended under 32A rated current.

Charging mode 3: The combination method is double-headed charging gun + cable + charging pile connected to single-phase or three-phase power, the common output current is 16A, it is recommended to use OMG 3*4.0+2*0.75 cable;32A, it is recommended to use OMG 3* 6.0+2*0.75 cable;three-phase 32A, OMG 5*6.0+2*0.75 cable is recommended;three-phase 63A, OMG 5*16+2*0.75 cable is recommended;three-phase 125A, OMG 5*35+ is recommended 2*0.75 cable.

Charging mode 4: The combination method is charging gun + cable + charging pile connected to DC.Since DC is used for charging, the charging speed is undoubtedly fast.Of course, the requirements for cables are also higher, and cables with larger diameters are required to carry larger loads.The current, and the performance of the cable in all aspects, such as mechanical properties, electrical properties also have higher requirements.Common output currents in mode 4 are 80A, 125A, 200A, and 250A.It is recommended to use OMG 2*20+25+2*4.0+6*0.75 cable, 2*35+25+2*4.0+6*0.75 cable, 2*50+25+2*4.0+6*0.75 cable, 2 *80+25+2*4.0+6*0.75 cable.
