Trip Overview
This 8 days small group tour to Mount Everest Base Camp (North Face) is one of our most popular adventures to the Himalayas. Start easy in Lhasa from its historic palaces and monasteries, tourists can smoothly acclimatize themselves while visiting the city for the first 3 days. No matter visit the sacred sites of Potala Palace and Johkang Temple, stroll on the bazaar-like Barkhor Street full of pilgrims, or step into a tranquil monastery of only sutra chanting, you can easily tell the difference of this awe-inspiring plateau holy city from others. Picturesque sceneries of the 1st day out of Lhasa come up all the way, and the first impressive site should be the Yamdrok Lake, which seen, from the Gangbala Pass, like a turquoise long belt embedded on the Himalayas. Karola Glacier is the nearest of its kind, rising up into sky just besides the highway. Gyantse is quite a small yet distinctive county with strong Tibetan ambience, the ancient city-wall, the unique monastery & stupa, the dominating castle are all there waiting. After one more night’s acclimatizing-sleep in Shigatse, the drive to Mt. Everest only has 350km left, most of landscapes are of barren hilly plateau until turning left into Mt. Everest Nature Reserve at Tingri. The reserve holds world’s some of the highest mountains over 8000 meters with all can be seen from the Gyalpo-la Pass; the Rongbuk Monastery, highest one in the world, is the best position to appreciate this nature’s masterpiece. When weather is good, the golden sunset and sunrise views of this giant are marvelous speechlessly. By doing such a trip, not only we meet memorable and fabulous scenes we dreamed, but also achieve a new life-time record high challenge.
