Mali Engrais is an organic fertilizer production and distribution company located in Sébénikoro, Bamako. The company was created in 2011 by Mr. Alassane Basse, CEO of the company. Mali Engrais is a structure specialising in :

Production of organic and organo-mineral fertilizers;Environmental sanitation;Environmental protection.The project includes the construction of a new organic fertilizer production and distribution unit, located at a new site in Djoliba in the Mandé commune in Bamako. The current manufacturing unit has a production capacity of 10,000 tonnes of organic fertilizer per year, and this project plans to increase this capacity to 30,000 tonnes per year.This project also aims to promote awareness of fertilizer products among the majority of farmers in Mali and the sub-region.The activities concerned in the implementation of these approaches are :

The purchase of raw materials,The purchase of transport equipment,The purchase of fertilizer packaging.Stakes:

Mali is a country of about 16 million inhabitants and the majority of the population lives on agriculture and has arable land. We are seeing an ever greater increase in arable land and organic fertilizer demand to improve the yields of these crops. The organic fertilizer market is dominated by imported products whereas the country has sufficient quantities and quality of sources of supply (raw materials). The country is bolstering its road infrastructure thereby also strengthening economic exchanges between producers and consumers. In the Mali market there are fertilizer distribution companies (buy-sell), but the production units are till now insignificant, thus a share of the market is up for grabs.The income level of the population has been rising in recent years, which boosts consumer demand and ability to pay.

Goals:

The objectives of this project will have a direct impact for the Mal government and its populations, namely :

the manufacture of organic fertilizers from urban waste and breeding and plant wastethe sanitation of the city of Bamako, the protection of the environment and the creation of jobs.Soil enrichment and crop yield through the use of organic fertilizersThe specific objectives of the project are to :

Increase the capacity of production of fertilizers from raw materials collected locally. The local raw materials concerned are poultry droppings, cow dung, ashes and household waste.Acquire marketing equipment (vehicles and transport trucks) for its products.Expand the geographical coverage of distribution and sales of organic fertilizers in MaliAcquire new public private partnershipsThe activities concerned in the implementation of these approaches are :
