Description:Dutasteride is a chemical substance similar to Propecia's finasteride in terms of its chemical structure and effects. Its branded form, known as Avodart, is used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia but dutasteride has recently also completed Phase III clinical trials for treating male pattern baldness. Dutasteride is considered to be a more powerful DHT blocker than finasteride at half dose and has been proven to work better in the frontal area of the scalp. The final study results are pending. Dutasteride can only be used by adult males.
Basic Application:
Dutasteride, along with Finasteride is a 5-alpha-Reductase inhibitor which are a group of drugs with anti-androgenic properties which inhibit the conversion of testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT). This is the same chemical found in Proscar and Propecia and is used in the treatment hyperplasia and androgenic alopecia. Because these drugs reduce levels of dihydrotestosterone (DHT) they are used to prevent and treat hairloss. It is most commonly used to treat enlarged prostate glands.Dutasteride is useful for treating benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH); colloquially known as an "enlarged prostate".In those who are being regularly screened, 5-alpha-reductase inhibitors such as finasteride and dutasteride reduce the overall risk of being diagnosed with prostate cancer; however, there is insufficient data to determine if they have an effect on the risk of death and may increase the chance of more serious cases.
Dosage:
The recommended dose of Avodart is 1 capsule (0.5 mg) taken once daily. Avodart may interact with conivaptan, imatinib, , antibiotics, antifungal medications, antidepressants, heart or blood pressure medications, or HIV/AIDS medicine. Tell your doctor all medications you use. Avodart is not usually used in women. Therefore, it is unlikely to be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Usuage:
Treating symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) or enlargement of the prostate gland. It also helps to reduce the risk of urinary blockage and the need for surgery to treat BPH. It may be used alone or along with another medicine (tamsulosin).
Dutasteride is a 5 alpha-reductase enzyme inhibitor. It works by lowering levels of a hormone called dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which is a major cause of prostate growth. Lowering DHT leads to shrinkage of the enlarged prostate gland.
Effect:1. For Hair Loss Treating :Dutasteride, at 2.5mgs/day is roughly 1.5x more effective than Finasteride at 5mgs/day, at treating hair loss (both halting it as well as regrowing it). In addition, Dutasteride can be used successfully at that same dose to treat prostate enlargement, and a lesser known effect of Dutasteride (again, at that same dose) use is to treat Acne caused by an overabundance of androgens in the body.2. For Bodybuiding :For the steroid using athlete suffering from DHT-related side effects, Dutasteride may be the answer. Hairloss, Acne, and prostate growth can all (potentially) be completely halted with the use of this product.
