Qingdao Robotfish Marine Technology Co., Ltd. (hereafter referred to as the Company) is a high-tech company which was the first one settled in Qingdao Oceantec Valley Core Area. It is co-founded by three marine professionals, namely Mrs. Ma Xiufen, an entrepreneur who knows well about both domestic and foreign underwater robots, Prof. Yue Qianjin, Dean of School of Ocean Science and Technology, Dalian University of Technology, deputy director of State Key Laboratory of Structural Analysis for Industrial Equipment, and Dr. Fan Ping, returned doctorate recipient from Germany. We keep in step with national strategies, meet market needs and put importance on independent innovation and international collaboration, consistently introduce high level talents of different majors. Incremental innovation on ROV technology is being made and multi-functional micro ROV based on IOT (including perception layer, transmission layer, data base and service layer) with independent intellectual property has been reached. Technology of ROV and IOT were perfectly integrated, which breaks the traditional aquatic cultivation mode. We are a typical company integrating the ocean with the IOT technology, not only have developed the best mini ROV in the world, which filled the gap in this field, but has also become China’s provider of cloud platform for smart aquaculture solution with the business mode of combing hardware, software and service. Our company was established in July, 2013, and settled in Qingdao Oceantec Valley in December, 2014. We have formed a team of 48 (including 26 full time staff and 19 full time R&D members) within one year. We have visited more than 30 large scale fishery companies and farms in Shandong, Hainan, Guangxi, Guangdong, Liaoning, Gansu, Zhejiang and Sichuan Province for market research and surveys. By understanding the customers’ needs, we have made a list consisting of 5000 target customers. We have built partnerships with Dalian University of Technology, the First Institute of Oceanography, SOA, Yellow Sea Fisheries Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences, Ocean University of China and Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. We have also had collaborations with Prof. Lars Asplund from Sweden, who is helping us integrating the innovation resources of European ROV industry.

To meet the market demand, we have developed five products including Small Jiaolong Submersible (customized model), handheld underwater camera, towed underwater camera, “Flying Fish” Mini ROV and the net washing machine along with four systems, namely the intelligent water quality monitoring system, intelligent net cage monitoring system, factory farming system and the benthos observatory system. We have applied 15 patents and have formed the first enterprise standard for ROV in China. We have our representatives in different provinces and the water conservancy system. The products have been successfully applied to Dalian Zhangzi Island, Huangdao Fisheries Bureau and Yellow Sea Fisheries Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences, etc. Our “Flying Fish” Mini ROV is the only equipment that can stay for long time underwater in Hunan’s sunken vessel salvage.

For the next five years, we are going to further promote the application of our products to 2,000 sets in such areas as marine culture, marine research, water quality monitoring and underwater construction. The number of the system platforms is expected to be 50 sets, bringing economic benefit of more than 760 million Yuan, and promote the economic benefit of the whole industry chain to more than 16 billion Yuan.

We are aiming to fasten the transition of traditional fishery to modern fishery, so as to realize the highly automated aquaculture and largely reduce labor and feeding cost, striving to realize the sustainable development of aquaculture.

Based on the platform of ROV, we start from acting as the provider of cloud platform smart aquaculture solution, striving to occupy the market, strengthen our technology, and constantly improve our own innovation ability, besides, we are integrating innovative resources of foreign and domestic marine equipment, promoting collaborative innovation with new mechanism and new mode, so as to develop and produce series of world class underwater robots. We are aiming to become a world class ROV and system provider covering the fields including offshore oil and gas and military project, making our own efforts in boosting the national strategy for ocean development.
