Ceramic PCB material types:

At this stage we have four common types of radiating ceramic ceramic : HTCC, LTCC, DBC, DPC, among them, HTCC is belong to the earlier development of the technology, but due to its higher sintering temperature is a limit to choose electrode material, and the manufacture cost is relatively more expensive, these factors have contributed to the development of LTCC. Although (Low Temperature Co-fired Ceramics) LTCC has lower the co-fired temperature to about 850℃, but the drawback is not easy to control the size accuracy and product strength.

DBC has combine Al2O3 with Cu board by high temperature, as the technical bottleneck is not easy to solve the problem of the micro pores are existed between Al2O3 and Cu board, so as to face the bigger challenges of the production capacity and the rate of good product, and DPC technology use the direct plating technique, put Cu deposited on the Al2O3 board, this technology has combine material and the thin film technology, its product is the most commonly used for a radiating ceramic ceramic in recent years.

Characteristics of the Ceramic PCB material:

1. Ceramic circuit board’s major advantages:

① Small coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) ;② High chemical stability;③ High temperature resistance , high humidity resistance;④ Good process stability and electrical performance.

2. Ceramic circuit board’s major defects:

① The material has big fragility , is not suitable for manufacturing the large-sized circuit board;② The material has low dielectric constant, is not suitable for high-speed circuit board;③ The price is expensive, not suitable for low-cost applications.
