Product Description
Cefpirome Pivoxil is an oral prodrug of cefpirome, a fourth-generation injectable cephalosporin antibiotic. It is designed to improve oral absorption by masking the polar carboxylate group with a pivoxil ester moiety.
After oral administration, it is rapidly hydrolyzed in vivo to release active cefpirome, which exhibits broad-spectrum bactericidal activity against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative pathogens, including multidrug-resistant strains. It is stable against most plasmid-mediated and chromosomal β-lactamases.
