The kit is an enzymelinked immunosorbent assay mainly used for quantitative detection of "elastase-α1-PI complex"
concentration in human seminal plasma. It is also used to determine the concentration of such substance in serum
specimens.

Applications in clinic:
The kit is mainly used for detection of infection of genital tract As the study shows, the concentration of semen elastase has a good
correlation with the leukocytes in the semen. When the leukocyte concentration in the semen is more than 1×106/ml, the elastases
level in seminal plasma is more than 1000ng/ml. While the leukocyte concentration in the semen is less than 1×106/ml, it is indicated
that abnormal elastase level occurs in seminal plasma of many specimens. The elastase in seminal plasma is a sensitive diagnostic
index of inapparent infection of genital tract.As the diagnostic index for infection of genital tract and monitoring index for recovery, the
elastase in seminal plasma is just the one recommended by WHO (See the detail in WHO Laboratory Manual for the Examination of
Human Semen and SpermCervical Mucus Interaction (3rd edition). It is also considered to be one of required inspection items for
European male infertility assays.
