AOB is yellow or brown powders or particles obtained from bamboo leaves, wherein the main antioxidative components include flavones, lactones, phenolic acids. The toxicological test of AOB has been strictly performed according to China food additives approve system The results listed below: 1-Acute Oral toxicity test on rat and mice confirmed AOB is non-toxic 2-Negative on Ames test/mice micronucleus test/mice sperm malformation test 3-No significant toxicity appeared on rat 90 days feeding trial.The Maximum no effect dose is 4.3g/kg weight. 4-No maternal toxicity, embryo toxicity and teratogenicity showed up 5-No significant toxicity appeared both on parent rat and baby rat at the first reproduction 6-In the Metablic test, the four main content of AOB are not directly absorbed by gastrointestinal tract. No AOB content was detected in different phase of blood plasma and the main organ (liver, kidney, brain, musles) after feeding of AOB, and 27.6% was detected in the excrement 24h after feeding. No prototype of AOB was detected in the urine.
