Adesera is a drug for treatment of chronic Hepatitis B infection. It belongs to the class of medicine called as the nucleotide analogs. The drug functions by lowering the number of hepatitis B virus (HBV) in the body.
Adesera contains Adefovir Dipivoxil. It is a reverse transcriptase inhibitor (ntRTI). It is not prescribed for patients who are under 12 years of age. The drug slows down the growth of HBV by blocking the reverse transcriptase enzyme required for viral reproduction.
Do not take Adesera if you are pregnant or plan to get pregnant. Adesera belongs to Category C as it has shown adverse effects on fetus in animals. There is no clear study to indicate its effects on human fetus. Thus, one should avoid taking the drug when pregnant.
